couch finished: the in-laws come tomorrow.
theres just something unsettling and sinister about
a well-adjusted, loving family. i feel the
constant urge to check up sleeves, behind backs
and between lines. and they know it; theyre not oblivious
to my skepticism.

mothers moon cookies.

1 1/2 c all purpose flour
3/4 c confectioners sugar
1/2 t salt
1/4 sweetened condensed milk
1/2 t vanilla extract
1/2 c butter, softened
1 c chopped walnuts
sift together dry ingredients. stir
in condensed milk, vanilla and butter. blend well and
fold in nuts. chill. preheat oven to 375F.
line cookie sheets with foil. roll dough
pencil thin and form in crescent shapes.
arrange cookies on sheets. bake on top rack
for 12 minutes, until set. dont brown. let the
cookies cool on the pan. while still barely warm,
roll them in leftover powdered sugar.
