i just noticed for the first time that the curtains
hanging in the spare room at my mom's house
have dandelions on them. i'd been staring at them
for ten minutes. they hung in her bedroom
for twenty years. i also realized that
whereas i used to say it to slight my father,
it really just is my mom's house now.
