what's wrong with making a scarf for
someone you don't know with the words
let's be friends knitted in,
pixelated and drawn out to wrap around
their neck and hang down into their jacket
or trail behind as they run for the bus?
it's possible that i'm the only person who
would appreciate such a gesture from
a stranger, but it's also possible that
he and i are soulmates - one with
a knack for knitting and one with
a knack for writing.
