yarn: baby acrylic

needles: size 6 US

-cast on 76 stitches.

-next row: knit 2, purl 2 to the end of the row.

-continue this pattern for 71/2 inches.

thread needle and take remaining stitches off knitting needles. sew cap

together, changing seam at cuff turn-up. pompom optional.

1 cup plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine, softened

1/4 cup confectioners' sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

2 eggs, beaten

4 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

confectioners' sugar for dusting

preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

in a bowl, blend together 1 cup of flour, butter, and 1/4 cup confectioners' sugar. press this dough into a greased 8-x-8-inch pan. bake for 15 minutes. remove the pan from the oven, but leave the oven on.

while the dough base is baking, mix together the granulated sugar, the 2 tablespoons flour, the baking powder, eggs, and the lemon juice. when the base is removed from the oven, pour this lemon mixture over it and return the pan to the oven. bake for another 20 to 25 minutes.

cool in the pan. cut into squares and sift confectioners� sugar over them.
