i don't know what kind of neighborhood you live in, but sometimes when i'm home from the grocery and trying to carry everything at once, someone strolling by will say oh let me help you with that! and take half, walk me to my door where i say thank you; i've got it from here i think and we laugh, say see you later whether we will or not and the next day i will weed a flowerbed or move a bike out of the rain to even the score.

i've been moving bikes for weeks, pulling weeds from other people's flowerbeds and this afternoon when erik poked his head in to say hello i just handed everything over, said i don't know what i'm doing anymore.

sometimes i forget that it's okay to ask for help
