there are things that distract me from my obsessions -
a line of shiny pink satin and french twists,
pretty girls in matching dresses shuffling back
and forth on wet sidewalk, skirts hoisted up,
slips underneath and seven different shades
of tan pantyhose, pre-ceremony shoe-scuffing,
avoiding embarrassments, giggling and looking
up at the sky, begging it with squinted eyes
not to ruin their best friends day.
